Everybody wants to hit the ball straighter and farther right? Yeah, me too! So when my big draw started turning into a big HOOK, I went to see the man who makes his living hitting the fairway, aka "the grid". Yep, long drive champions don't have the luxury of blocking it right into the woods, punching an iron out down in front of the green, pitching the ball to 4 feet and then making the putt like the PGA Tour guys. Long drive champions hit the grid(fairway) or they go home. After only a few minutes of discussion, it took Sean less than 30 minutes to iron out my big loop from the inside.
His Trackman equipment clearly showed that my path and face angle were both headed so far right that all I could really hit was a big draw. A big draw is great when it's on, but when it's off, YUCK! After agreeing on a new setup position that would help minimize my big loop from inside to out, my ball flight was spooky straight. Sean said, "I think that's the one!", after a few solid straight balls. His equipment also showed that if I got my spin rate down a little I could pick up over 20 yards. Now, we all know how well we hit the ball in an artificial environment. Ever rolled a putter in the store? ;) So naturally I wasn't expecting an immediate transformation when I hit the course the next day after work. Boy was I wrong! I simply got into my new setup position that Sean and I agreed on and bang! Right down my starting line. My last 4 competitive rounds since my tweak a month ago are as follows: 74, 74, 72 and 74. Golf really is a lot more fun from the fairway.
Now you may be thinking that Sean's knowledge and equipment only fixed my big hooking driver, well you'd be incorrect. My new setup and path transferred seamlessly to my irons and I must confess it's been a little weird not seeing my irons move from right to left. It's really cool when your weekly playing partners notice an immediate change in your ball flight and it's accuracy. I've always had to aim 8 to 10 yards right of the flag and sling it in. I've never been able to take dead aim at the flag like I do now.
Thanks Sean!
Jeremy Brooks.
After an 8 year layoff of playing golf, my handicap ballooned to a 20. Moved to Mt Pleasant SC and began to play again. Was hitting the ball on average 220 yards, weak! Heard the Beast was near by and began taking lessons in August. Today I am consistently over 250 and have hit it over 290 a few times in matches. This past weekend I finished 2nd in our Clubs President Cup tournament. Having the confidence gained from The Beast, I took down my flight then won Semi final match to make it to the finals. Finished 2nd!!!! How often in life do you get to work with someone who is the best in the WORLD at something? Take advantage of The Beast and get swinging!
